A general text by Yannick Vu in Italian concerning the ideal collection of portraits of children chosen from important museums worldwide.
An original gallery of portraits of little princes executed between the late fifteenth century and the early nineteenth century by the most famous artists from across Europe.
Regardless of the painter's talent and the era in which they operated, a fundamental concern, evident from the examination of the paintings, is the search for the identity of the model. This search is expressed through the characterization of the faces and attitudes of the young models. In this gallery are princes who had a glorious fate and are well-known in their portraits as adults, but perhaps more numerous are those whose fleeting existence did not surpass the stage of promise due to premature disappearance. A detailed account of the life and family ties within the various European courts is provided for each of them, aiming to reconstruct four centuries of European history through these micro-stories.
